This is something that I have always wondered about as I tend to use cheap ones as I am far too worried that if I use a pretty one I will lose it...

What do you use as a bookmark?

I use paint strips. They're free and come in tons of colors. :)
I couldn't find the ones I use on Amazon to show you, but I did find a page on another blog, so here's what I use - http://sumthinblue.com/help-me-bookmarks/
They are just too cute and almost indestructible. My only problem is people keep pinching them because they are so cool lol.
