Less a book about libraries, as its Dewey classification asserts, than an interior-design album, this lavish tome yet stresses the importance of books in the lives of even the rich and famous, even when they're not writers. Oh, some whose book troves appear do write for a living: for instance, poet Richard Howard, whose small New York apartment walls are near-totally covered with books. Others whose entire names are famous include designer Bill Blass and Rolling Stone Keith Richards, but of the rest, a few just have impressive surnames (Rothschild, Getty, Biddle), one has a title (the duke of Devonshire), and the remainder have monikers as discreet as their fortunes are large. A terrific browsing book, thanks to Christopher Simon Sykes' tasteful photos, helpfully concluded by a resource directory of tony rare-book dealers, book fairs, bookbinders, sources of library furnishings, etc

I absolutely loved this book from the first page to the last.  I enjoyed finding out more about books and people's libraries and even cured by nosy nature by being able to see other people's libraries too!

I absolutely adored this book.  It is the first time I have read a book like this and normally this would not be one that I would have chosen but I have seen so many reviews and book hauls with this in, I just had to get in on the action and give it a go and boy was I glad I did.

I absolutely adored this book...  I liked the different style of 'chat room exerpts' it had in it which featered a mermaid and a frog and another creature, whch I thought was really funny...  This book really swept me away iin a way that I was not expecting.... I am really looking forward to the movie which comes out soon and hope that the story is similar to the book....

Nevertheless, you need to know something, so we will just say this: It is extremely funny, but the African beach scene is horrific. The story starts there, but the book doesn't. And it's what happens afterwards that is most important. Once you have read it, you'll want to tell everyone about it. When you do, please don't tell them what happens either. The magic is in how it unfolds.

You know how it is... you're at a party, you've had a drink or two, and then someone introduces you to a friend. He's a doctor. And it seems like the perfect time to ask all those strange questions you've always wondered about, but never had the courage to ask: Can poppy seeds make you test positive for heroin? What are goosebumps? Why does asparagus make your wee smell? Why do old people get hairy ears? Is it possible to lose your contact lenses inside your head forever? Why do some people have an "outie" belly button and some people an "innie"? Does warm milk really help you sleep? Is it actually possible to get scared to death? This book gives the answer to these and many more questions - pretty much everything you've ever wanted to know - but never had enough Dutch courage to ask! 

I loved this book.  It was so funny and yet so true at the same time.  A lot of the questions in this book I have definately wondered about at some point or another and it is so refreshing to actually get the answers for them!  This is such a great book and I really did learn a lot with this one....

If you hate chick lit, Che Guevara merchandise, pop Kabbalah, cosmetic-surgery-gone-wrong-as-tv-programming, DVDs with ads you can't skip, or any of a few hundred other insanely annoying modern things, then this book will finally lend creedence to your frustrations.

Say NOto the awful ideas, terrible people, useless products, and infuriating doublespeak that increasingly dominates our lives. Never before has there been a book so completely full of shit.

Clearly, it isn't just you... 

I really did not enjoy this book I am afraid.  I picked it up hoping that it would be funny and light hearted but, to me, it really wasn't.  Unfortunately, this book was not for me.

 I absolutely LOVED this book...  I picked this book up almost immediately after reading Wicked Lovely and was completely expecting a follow on to the story of Aislynn and the Keenan but when I discovered that the main character was Leslie (Aislynn's friend) and we saw more of the story from a different point of view I thought this was such a brilliant way of doing it.

Book Review - Thirteen Secrets by Michelle Harrison (Book 3 Thirteen Treasures) CONTAINS SPOILERS

Red is now living at Elvesden Manor under her real name, Rowan, and trying to put her past behind her. I believe this is the last in the Thirteen Treasures series and I absolutely loved it.  With this book, I devoured it in no time at all and I was actually a little bit sad when it finished because there wasn't another book in the series to pick up and carry on with.  This is an amazing series guys and if you haven't read it, I would strongly recommend it especially if you like faery stories......

WARNING - this review does contain spoilers....

The Thirteen Treasures have become the Thirteen Curses. When fairies stole her brother, Red vowed to get him back. Now trapped in the fairy realm, she begs an audience with the fairy court where she strikes a bargain. Her brother will be returned - but only if she can find the thirteen charms of Tanya's bracelet that have been scattered in the human world. Returning to Elvesden Manor, Red is assisted by Tanya and Fabian and a desperate hunt begins. Soon they make a shocking discovery. The charms now have twisted qualities of the thirteen treasures they represent...and the longer they are missing the worse the consequences will be. Can Red, Tanya and Fabian find all the charms? And even if they do, will the fairies keep their promise?



I loved this second book.  It was slightly longer than the first and there were places in it where I thought there was a lot more description than needed to be but I loved the story and I loved the fact that we concentrated on seeing Red's side of the story and find out more about her as well as more about the story and the world around them...

This book is really good.  I loved the style of writing and the pace of the book.  It is definately an easy read.  I would recommend this to you all but to all those who like a good faery story mystery...

 I absolutely loved this book.  The first time I heard about this one was that it was going to be made into a movie with Robert Pattinson in it.  The trailer for it looked amazing so I thought I would go and purchase the book.  If I can, I do prefer to read the book before the movie and this book definitely did not disappoint...  From the first few lines and all the way through, I loved the style of writing, the pace of the story and the world of the circus.  I would strongly recommend this book to all you guys out there, it is brilliant...
